Construction projects on berths 1 and 2 at the Port of Wilmington are now complete and the area is being used by our steel department.
Sheet piling was installed by T.A. Loving Company of Goldsboro, NC. These pilings serve as cutoff walls along the edge of the concrete relieving platform thus eliminating the loss of material underneath the asphalt pavement. This will eliminate future sinkholes improving the efficiency and safety of port operations in the berth areas.
"The cooperation between the contractor and the Ports Operations Department led to the success of this project," said John Lenfestey, Ports Authority Senior Project Manager. "We were able to complete this project on schedule. I was happy with how smooth the project ran and we are very pleased to have a good working relationship with T.A. Loving."
