Fayetteville Street Reopening - July 29, 2006

Over 60,000 people celebrated the re-opening of Fayetteville Street in Raleigh on Saturday evening. Fayetteville Street has been closed to vehicular traffic for more than 30 years. Saturday's celebration, which included a military fly-over and parade, marks the end of 16 months of construction by T. A. Loving Company of Goldsboro, North Carolina. The $9.3 million project features a 40 foot wide thoroughfare with parallel parking and is part of the city's dream of revitalizing downtown Raleigh.
