T.A. Loving and Wayne Memorial Hospital Celebrate Construction Milestone

T.A. Loving was chosen to do the emergency department expansion and renovation at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, NC. This ceremony was to commemorate the hanging of the final support beam.

GOLDSBORO, N.C. - Wayne Memorial Hospital is celebrating a big milestone in the construction of its new emergency department.

On Friday, employees and construction workers commemorated the hanging of the building's final support beam.

The new ER will be almost three times as big as the old one, and hospital representatives said that's necessary, because more and more people who are using the ER do not have health insurance and are using it for non-emergencies.

"Our volume has been so high, it's going to be able to give us an opportunity to provide better care for our patients, hopefully in a more timely fashion so hopefully the waits won't be quite as long," said Nursing Supervisor Kevin Lee.

The project costs an estimated $18 million. Construction of the new emergency room is expected to be complete by May.
