For the third consecutive year T.A. Loving received the People's Choice Award at the 5th Annual Chili Cook-Off to benefit the Goldsboro Community Soup Kitchen on Saturday, October 22nd. Each spectator pays five dollars for entry and can sample chili from each participating team. The Soup Kitchen uses the money raised to feed the homeless, providing a hot breakfast and lunch every day in addition to a bag dinner each evening. T.A. Loving is a major sponsor of the event every year.
The People's Choice Award is given to the team that raises the most money on the day of the event. Each team receives donations from spectators who favor their chili.
With the turnout the largest in the event's history, there were 17 teams that participated. In addition to the People's Choice Award, T.A. Loving also took home 4th place for best overall chili. T.A. Loving team members include Mike Mitchell, Scott Wynne, Shawn McDowell, Angie Sugg, Debbie Pittman, Mike Richter (in absentia) and David Philyaw (in absentia).
