Wilders Grove Solid Waste Services Center Breaks Ground

Goldsboro, NC - March 2010 - T. A. Loving Company, Goldsboro, NC, joined the City of Raleigh in the ground breaking of the Wilders Grove Service Center Solid Waste Services Facility.

The Wilders Grove Solid Waste Services Center will be a stepping stone for a series of remote operations facilities built by the City of Raleigh. The goal of these facilities is to improve service to a growing area, improve operational efficiency by reducing time crews spend vehicles, reduce fossil fuel in support of the City of Raleigh's 20 perfect fossil fuel usage reduction goal, reduce greenhouse gases in support of the Climate Protection Plan and vacate high-value real estate in downtown Raleigh.

The new facility is approximately 24,000 square feet and will house all of the City's Solid Waste Services Department staff and vehicles. Construction is expected to begin early this year with completion in the summer of 2011.

The City of Raleigh plans to seek Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for Wilders Grove Solid Waste Services Center. LEED certification is granted by the U.S. Green Building Council for meeting high standards of environmentally sustainable construction.
